Children In Need
Making Pudsey Bear Biscuits!

Children In Need always seemed like a worthwhile charity, and a great night of daft TV – then I had a baby of my own. I felt so lucky to have such a healthy, happy baby.
Now, Pudsey is not just on our TV screen – he has come into our kitchen!
Here we are making Pudsey Bear biscuits

The finished biscuits – tra daa!

Here is the (really easy) recipe we used: (courtesy of our free bake the bear kit from ASDA)
85 g margarine
85 g soft brown sugar
85 g golden syrup
225 g plain flour
1 level tsp baking powder
1 level tsp ground ginger
Some currants for decorations
- Preheat the oven to 200c/180c fan/Gas mark 6
- Line 2 baking trays with baking paper
- Cream together the marg, sugar and syrup.
- Sift together all the other ingredients, and add them to the mixture.
- Mix together – use your hands! Make a smooth dough.
- Put a little flour on a board or table and roll out the dough to about 6-7 mm thick.
- Press Pudsey cutter or buscuit cutter into the mixture and press out into shapes, put them on the baking trays.
- Press on currants for the eyes and nose.
- Bake for about 8 minutes.
- Cool on the tray for about 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
Then…
- ENJOY your biscuits!
- or better still - SELL them for Children In Need…
- or – make a DONATION to Children In Need
We had a great time! 3 yo ended up with more flour on him than I could have imagined, but the finished biscuits tasted great!

My wife used this recipe from Asda too and I could smell the sweet smell of biscuits wafting from the kitchen.
My wife baked the biscuits with our youngest and asks how did you manage to take photos at the same time!
Thanks Jason – yes taking pics while making biscuits is difficult, you have to be very quick or you end up with dough EVERYWHERE!
Hope your biscuits turned out as delicious as ours!
